The Rashtrakavi Govinda Pai Kendra started in 1965 with a gift of books from the personal collection of the renown poet Manjeshwar Govinda Pai. Later recognized as a centre for post doctoral research, it is actively involved in guiding interested scholars to pursue their research in areas of - language, literature, art, culture, and worship of the region. The Kendra conducts regular workshops, extension lectures and seminars. It is also engaged in publication of books pertaining to art and culture of this region. Many national and international seminars have taken place under the auspices of this Kendra. The Tulu Lexicon of six volumes is a scholarly feat of the century in the field of a minority spoken language.  The voluminous Govinda Pai Samputa, a collection of research articles of Late Rastrakavi Govind Pai in Kannada is a magnum opus.
